Kawasaki Heavy Industries has signed a memorandum of understanding with Transgaz for a strategic partnership to transport hydrogen via land pipelines in Romania. This collaboration aims to leverage Transgaz's expertise in gas pipelines and Kawasaki's centrifugal compressor technology for hydrogen, enhancing Romania's role as an energy hub in Central and Eastern Europe. The initial phase includes demonstration tests for transporting pure gaseous hydrogen using Kawasaki's KM Comp-H2 compressor. This project is part of Japan's initiative to support Ukraine's reconstruction and strengthen ties with Central and Eastern European countries. The demonstration is expected to be the world's first large-scale hydrogen transport via pipelines.
