Eighty-four workers from various countries were exploited in Italy during berry harvesting, facing excessive hours and poor living conditions. An investigation revealed a criminal group exploiting these seasonal workers, who were charged for inadequate accommodations and other expenses. The suspects, including a local farmer and family members, are accused of labor exploitation and fraud, with significant financial gains from unpaid wages. Authorities seized €790,514 as illicit profits from these activities, highlighting the vulnerability of the workers due to language barriers and limited job opportunities.
