Customs and border police found 24 drones and two smart batteries worth over one million lei in a Bulgarian-registered van near the Calafat-Vidin toll station. The driver could not provide documentation for the drones, claiming the cargo was headed to Germany. The drones included advanced filming and thermal imaging capabilities, with some designed for high-altitude flights. Two drones were capable of carrying up to 80 kg, similar to those used in cigarette smuggling. The total value of the seized goods was 1,011,000 lei, and the driver received a fine of 15,000 lei.
