The Greek Parliament has passed a law banning social media use for children under 15, effective January 1, 2027, due to concerns about minors' safety and health. Social media platforms have 2.5 months to implement age verification measures. The Digital Governance Minister defended the regulations as necessary and proportional, emphasizing the need for government action to protect children from internet addiction. Greece is among seven EU countries collaborating with the European Commission on age verification solutions. Similar legislation has been enacted in Australia, while a similar law in France was overturned.
