The European Council and Parliament have reached a provisional agreement to update regulations for organic products, enhancing clarity and reducing administrative burdens for small operators. The new rules will increase the exemption threshold for small traders selling organic bulk products from €20,000 to €40,000 annually. Imported organic products from non-EU countries with equivalent standards can use EU organic labeling under specific conditions. The recognition of organic standards from 11 non-EU countries has been extended until 2036. The agreement aims to maintain high standards and consumer trust while ensuring fair competition between EU and non-EU producers.
