Greek companies PPC and Metlen plan to complete 300 MW of battery storage projects by Q1 2027, marking their expansion into Southeast Europe. The initial projects will be located in Bulgaria and Romania, with Italy also involved. Announced in March, the joint venture aims for a total capacity of 1,500 MW and 3,000 MWh of storage, with 1,000 MW to be developed within a year. PPC will manage commercial operations while Metlen will focus on project development. The partnership will utilize lithium iron phosphate battery systems to enhance renewable energy integration and provide flexibility services. Both companies are also expanding storage operations in Greece.
