Starting January 1, 2027, residents of Sector 1 will pay a monthly waste management fee of 9.99 lei, with the municipality covering the remaining costs. This fee includes collection, transport, sorting, treatment, and disposal of waste, but does not cover street cleaning or snow removal. Mayor George Tuță emphasizes the necessity of this measure to comply with legal obligations and avoid potential government funding losses. Property owners must declare their tenants for accurate fee calculation, and failure to do so may result in penalties. Certain groups, including war veterans and individuals with disabilities, are exempt from this fee, provided they submit the necessary documentation.
