Climate change is causing the Earth to become rounder, according to a study by a Greek scientist. The planet's shape is changing as polar ice melts, allowing the crust to rise at the poles while it thins at the equator. This transformation, measured using GNSS data, shows an increase in roundness by 0.4 mm per decade since 2011. However, when considering both solid Earth and oceans, the planet is actually becoming flatter due to water displacement from melting ice. This phenomenon also subtly affects the Earth's rotation, lengthening days slightly.
