The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) has initiated legal proceedings to recover 2.44 million lei, approximately 493,000 euros, awarded as bonuses to members of the Romanian Rowing Federation after the Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 Olympics. This action follows a Court of Accounts audit that deemed the bonuses unjustified. Key figures, including Elisabeta Lipă, president of the federation, are among those being sued. The audit revealed that some beneficiaries lacked defined roles and criteria for their contributions to the awarded performances. COSR argues that the Court's decision is enforceable and has contested the audit's conclusions, asserting that the bonuses were largely legal. The case is currently in the civil court phase.
