The Romanian Constitutional Court recognized a constitutional conflict between Parliament and the Government regarding the SAFE ordinance, adopted after the Government's dismissal. Sorin Grindeanu, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, argued that the interim Government acted unlawfully by adopting legislation after losing parliamentary confidence. The Court's decision was narrowly passed with a vote of 5 to 4. Grindeanu raised concerns about the Government's authority to legislate on matters already under parliamentary debate, claiming it undermined the legislative role of Parliament. The Court has yet to rule on the constitutionality of the SAFE ordinance and the necessary measures for compliance with constitutional provisions.
