Archaeologists in western Jutland, Denmark, uncovered remnants of a defensive barrier from the Iron Age, dating back to 500 BC. This discovery may indicate an unknown conflict. The team from Museum Vest found a series of postholes while investigating a road expansion project near Schæfergårde. These holes likely supported sharpened wooden stakes forming a palisade intended to deter invading forces from the north. Additionally, excavations revealed a 4,500-year-old battle axe in a prehistoric burial mound, suggesting the presence of a significant warrior. Ongoing research aims to uncover more about the barrier's builders and the threats they faced.
