A revered icon of the Virgin Mary, known as "Gherontissa," will be brought from Mount Athos to Romania for a religious event from November 27 to December 2, 2026. This solemn procession will take place at the Pantocrator Monastery in Drăgănești-Vlașca, Teleorman. The event symbolizes the connection between the two monasteries sharing the same name, one in Greece and the other in Romania. Worshippers will have the opportunity to pray before the icon, seeking the Virgin Mary's protection and blessings. The icon is also referred to as "Sporul Casei" in popular tradition, associated with family blessings.
