Cluj-Napoca's city hall signed a financing contract worth over 10.8 billion lei for the metro project, part of the Transport Program 2021-2027. The project includes 8.8 kilometers of metro line to be completed by December 31, 2029. The total project length will be 21.03 kilometers with 19 stations. Initial funding came from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, amounting to approximately 1.43 billion lei. The metro aims to connect key areas in the metropolitan region, with an estimated daily ridership of 164,400 by 2030, potentially rising to 246,000 by 2060.
