Alice Schwarzer announced the closure of the feminist magazine "Emma" after nearly 50 years, citing exhaustion rather than financial reasons. The last issue will be published on December 8. Schwarzer emphasized that while subscriptions have declined, the magazine's finances were stable. She reflected on the magazine's impact over generations and her motivations for founding it. Schwarzer's controversial views on various issues, including the Ukraine war and transgender rights, have sparked protests and led to subscriber cancellations. Despite attempts to find a successor, Schwarzer remains at the helm, stating that potential successors preferred other media outlets. "Emma" has addressed critical issues like child abuse and Islamism long before mainstream media.
