Russia and Ukraine have agreed on a ceasefire near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant to allow repairs and restore power supply. The plant has been without external energy since August 20 due to military activities. The IAEA facilitated the ceasefire, enabling Ukrainian technicians to start repair work. Despite the plant not generating electricity, it requires constant power for cooling its reactors and spent fuel. Ukraine attempted to establish a temporary ceasefire along the front line, but Russia's refusal hindered this effort. Meanwhile, U.S. envoys are set to meet with Russian officials to discuss peace negotiations.
