Armenia is looking to diversify its gas imports from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iran to reduce reliance on Russia, according to Security Council head Alen Simonian. He emphasized the country's commitment to seek gas from various sources simultaneously. This announcement follows Gazprom Armenia's temporary suspension of gas supplies due to technical issues, coinciding with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's criticism of high gas prices in Armenia. The relationship between Armenia and Russia has strained recently, especially after Armenia's decision to freeze its participation in a post-Soviet military alliance and its aspirations to join the European Union. Moscow has responded with trade restrictions and sanctions on Armenian products.
