The U.S. Army has awarded AM General a new contract for HMMWV production, valued at $82.2 million initially, despite plans to transition to JLTV. The total contract value could reach $754.6 million by August 2028. This agreement is separate from an existing HMMWV contract, which has seen its value increase significantly over the past year. Delays in JLTV production have led to continued large orders for HMMWV vehicles. AM General is also producing the JLTV A2, with a five-year initial contract and an option for five more years. The company faces challenges with technical documentation and supplier issues, aiming to reach full production capacity by early 2027.
