Around 10,000 reservists from Bucharest and Ilfov are called to participate in the MOBEX 2026 exercise, aimed at assessing military readiness. This exercise occurs amid concerns about the aging reserve and delays in attracting young volunteers for military training. Reservists will engage in military instruction and shooting activities over one day. The average age of the mobilization reserve is nearly 50, prompting a program for young volunteers that has faced administrative delays. The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the exercise is not related to current regional security issues and is part of a regular training schedule. MOBEX 2026 will run until October 12, focusing on evaluating the response capacity of reservists.
