Armata primește primele obuziere autopropulsate K9 „Tunetul”. Lovesc la 54 km. Contract de 970.000.000 $ • Newsweek România

The Romanian Army is set to receive its first K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, part of a $970 million contract with Hanwha Aerospace. These 155 mm caliber systems will enhance the capabilities of the 4th Infantry Division 'Gemina'. The contract includes 54 K9 units, with the first 18 manufactured in South Korea and the remainder in Romania. The K9 howitzer can strike targets up to 54 km away and is among the most widely used artillery systems globally. This acquisition reflects a broader trend in Europe towards localizing defense production amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
