The Romanian Army is mobilizing 10,000 reservists in Bucharest and Ilfov for a one-day training exercise called MOBEX 2026. This annual drill aims to assess the readiness of defense structures and address the aging reserve force, which has an average age nearing 50. A general has criticized the government for blocking a voluntary military program for youth, which could help rejuvenate the reserve. The exercise includes military training and live ammunition sessions. The Ministry of National Defense is also combating misinformation regarding the exercise's purpose, clarifying it is not related to the current security situation in Eastern Romania. The drill runs until October 12.
