Arheologii descoperă o secțiune de 300 de metri dintr-un apeduct antic în Ierusalim

Israeli archaeologists have uncovered a 300-meter section of the ancient Lower Aqueduct of Jerusalem, shedding light on historical water supply methods. The Israel Antiquities Authority initiated excavations ahead of a new neighborhood construction in East Jerusalem. This aqueduct, believed to have been built during the Hasmonean period, transported water from Gush Etzion to Jerusalem. The newly discovered section will be preserved as a public archaeological park. The aqueduct's engineering is noted for its ability to transport water using gravity alone, and it remained in use until the early 20th century, showcasing its longevity and historical significance.
