An archaeological discovery in Corent, France, may reveal the largest known mint workshop from ancient times, believed to have produced Gallic coins before Roman conquest. The site, linked to the Arverni tribe, spans 500 square meters and features significant structures, including a thick wall and small rooms with furnaces. Researchers suggest it specialized in minting local bronze coins and Arverni staters made of silver and gold. The excavation involved around 100 students and volunteers, who faced challenging weather conditions. The site is now covered for protection until further research can be conducted.
