Approximately 800 individuals were registered with Alzheimer's in Neamț County last year, according to a report from the Public Health Directorate. In 2025, there were 783 patients, with a near even split between urban and rural areas. Family doctors reported 12,173 new cases of Alzheimer's in 2025, doubling the number from 2014. Projections indicate a significant rise in dementia cases in Romania, from 341,195 in 2019 to 577,177 by 2050. Globally, over 57 million people suffer from dementia, with more than 60% living in low- and middle-income countries.
