Aproape 2,9 milioane de mașini sufocă Bucureștiul și Ilfovul. Puse în parcări, ar ocupa cât un sfert din Capitală
Bucharest and Ilfov have nearly 2.9 million registered cars, occupying about 60 square kilometers when accounting for parking space and circulation areas. The municipality plans to introduce a Low Emission Zone starting November 1, 2027, targeting older, more polluting vehicles. Initial restrictions will affect 80,507 Non-Euro cars, with further phases planned for other pollution standards through 2032. The high pollution levels in central Bucharest, particularly nitrogen dioxide, have prompted these measures, as the city has faced legal action for exceeding air quality limits. The situation remains critical, with increasing exceedances of pollution thresholds reported since 2020.
