APIA: New electrified car registrations up 16% in September; overall market down 11.5%

In September 2026, new passenger car registrations dropped by 11.5%, while electrified vehicles saw a 16% rise, capturing 64% market share. SUVs led the market with 61.3%, and petrol and diesel cars faced significant declines. Fully electric cars increased their share to 8%, with Tesla models dominating sales. Light commercial vehicle registrations fell by 25.2%, and heavy vehicle registrations also decreased.
