Romania is facing one of its most challenging hydrological periods in decades, with low water levels in the Danube and ongoing drought conditions. The Danube's flow at Baziaș is currently 1,600 cubic meters per second, expected to drop to around 1,500 by early August, significantly below the historical average. Nuclearelectrica has confirmed that Unit 2 will remain connected to the national energy system, operating safely despite low water levels. Irrigation restrictions are in place in the Călărași-Cernavodă sector, while algal blooms are being monitored but remain within normal limits. Despite drought in several regions, there are no restrictions on water supply for the population, with reservoir levels adequate for centralized water supply.
