The Romanian Ministry of Economy is adapting national legislation to comply with the EU Regulation 2024/1028 on short-term rentals. This includes the introduction of a unique registration number for rental units, which must be displayed on online platforms. The regulation aims to enhance competition and safety in the tourism sector, ensuring that rental properties meet legal standards. Additionally, platforms will be required to report data on rental activities to authorities. The Ministry is also working on a digital accommodation file and considering the establishment of a national Destination Management Organization to improve tourism promotion.
