Romanian single parents may receive additional vacation days as the Senate approved a bill granting at least three extra days off annually. This proposal amends the Labor Code to include single-parent families among those eligible for extra leave. If passed, single parents could have a minimum of 23 vacation days per year. Supporters argue that this measure compensates for the additional responsibilities faced by single parents. Approximately 160,000 single-parent households exist in Romania, predominantly led by women. The bill still requires approval from the Chamber of Deputies before becoming law.
