For the first time, the net gain of mandatory private pension funds in Romania has exceeded 100 billion lei, reaching 108.6 billion lei by July 2026. The assets managed for 8.5 million participants have risen to 246.7 billion lei, with total payments of 7.9 billion lei made to over 350,000 beneficiaries. Approximately 95% of the funds' assets are invested in Romania, primarily in government bonds and listed companies, contributing to economic growth and job creation. The second pillar has become a crucial part of Romania's pension system, ensuring financial stability and supporting future retirees.
