Romania is set to launch a vaccination campaign for sheep and goats against small ruminant plague and sheep and goat pox, starting by October 1, 2026. The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has outlined measures to stabilize animal exports, emphasizing the importance of traceability. Vaccination will occur in specific regions for small ruminant plague and nationwide for sheep and goat pox. The plan aims to address recent outbreaks and facilitate the resumption of live animal exports to six key markets outside the EU. However, strict regulations will remain in place for live animal movements until conditions are met.
