Romanians may receive financial rewards for temporarily reducing electricity consumption during peak demand periods, as proposed by ANRE. The initiative aims to balance the energy system when demand surges, particularly in the evening. Consumers who can shift their energy use to less busy times could be compensated. The mechanism would be activated during specific energy crises, such as extreme weather or resource shortages. A similar project is already being tested in several counties.
