ANRE approves Transelectrica's 2026-2035 investment plan, requires sped-up interconnection with Hungary and Bulgaria

The National Energy Regulatory Authority has approved Transelectrica's investment plan for 2026-2035, emphasizing the need for faster interconnections with Hungary and Bulgaria. ANRE president George Niculescu highlighted the plan's strategic importance for Romania's energy transmission network. Despite exceeding EU interconnection targets, Romania has not fully met cross-border capacity goals with its neighbors. The approved plan includes 117 investment projects aimed at enhancing transmission capacity, integrating renewable energy, and improving grid flexibility. Key projects include the Romania-Hungary interconnection and the CARMEN smart-grid initiative.
