The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) imposed fines totaling nearly 11 million lei after conducting 671 inspections in the first eight months of 2026, primarily targeting the electricity and natural gas sectors. ANRE plans to continue monitoring distribution operators to ensure compliance with licensing procedures for electricity production. The president of ANRE emphasized that these controls are essential for maintaining fair market practices. Most fines were issued in the electricity sector, with significant amounts also for natural gas and thermal energy. The collected fines contribute entirely to the state budget.
