The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) has initiated inspections at fuel stations due to high gasoline and diesel prices. Inspectors are monitoring the commercial markups and daily price changes. Operators are allowed only one price increase per day, which must occur by noon. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance has reduced the excise duty on standard diesel by 25% for the period of September 1-15, 2026, leading to a decrease in diesel prices by 17 bani per liter, bringing it slightly below 10 lei at the cheapest stations.
