The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) imposed 1,102 fines totaling over 3.98 million lei during nationwide inspections from September 7-11, 2026. Inspectors checked over 1,600 businesses, focusing on product safety and compliance with food legislation. Numerous violations were found, leading to fines and measures to protect consumers. The ANPC ordered the permanent withdrawal of non-compliant products worth approximately 115,000 lei and temporarily halted the sale of others valued at about 2.55 million lei until issues were resolved. Key violations included improper labeling, hygiene issues, and unauthorized service provision. Some products were misrepresented as local without proper certification.
