ANP reacționează după protestul de la închisoarea Giurgiu

The National Administration of Penitentiaries (ANP) responded to the protest at Giurgiu Prison, highlighting staff shortages and overcrowding as systemic issues. ANP stated that resource management is based on the needs of each unit. Giurgiu Prison has an occupancy rate of 105.24%, with maximum security reaching 117.61%. To alleviate pressure, 1,762 new accommodation places will be available by the end of 2026. ANP is aware of the concerns raised by staff and maintains dialogue with unions. Over 150 employees protested on August 5, citing poor working conditions and excessive inmate supervision.
