Annual inflation rate to rise by year's end, exceeding the previously forecast level (BNR)
The National Bank of Romania predicts rising inflation rates through 2026, driven by increased energy costs and raw material prices. The inflation rate is expected to exceed the previously forecasted 6.1% due to supply-side shocks and geopolitical tensions. Despite a recent decline in inflation to 6.17%, risks remain elevated, particularly concerning oil prices. The BNR has decided to maintain its monetary policy rates unchanged at its recent meeting.
