Annual inflation rate reaches 6.61% in September

In September, the annual inflation rate increased to 6.61%, driven by rising prices in services, non-food goods, and food. The National Institute of Statistics reported a consumer price index of 100.77% for September 2026, with a year-to-date inflation rate of 5.4%. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices indicated a 6.5% annual inflation rate. The National Bank of Romania has adjusted its inflation forecast for the end of 2026 to 6.1%, expecting a decrease to 3.4% by the end of 2027.
