Meteorologists have issued yellow and orange alerts for several regions in Romania due to extreme temperatures expected to reach up to 38 degrees Celsius. On August 22, high temperatures between 33 and 37 degrees will be prevalent, with a heat index exceeding 80 units in the Romanian Plain. The southern half of the country will experience tropical nights with minimums of 19 to 22 degrees. Specific areas like Mehedinți, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Botoșani, and Iași will face even higher temperatures and significant thermal discomfort. Additionally, there will be warnings for atmospheric instability and heavy rainfall in certain mountainous regions. Alerts will continue into August 23, with similar conditions expected in Oltenia, Muntenia, and Dobrogea.
