ANI: Zece primari și alți 45 de aleși și funcționari își pierd funcțiile în baza noii legi a integrității

The National Integrity Agency (ANI) announced that 55 public officials will lose their positions under the new integrity law effective August 31. This includes ten mayors, 17 local and county councilors, and 13 public servants. The law mandates that individuals declared incompatible or in conflict of interest must vacate their positions within 30 days. The new legislation emphasizes enforcing these bans rather than imposing financial penalties, which were often minimal. ANI will conduct on-site checks to ensure compliance with the law. The law also introduces harsher penalties for violations, including fines and nullification of acts signed by those under prohibition. The controversial 'Fritz amendment' affects Timișoara's mayor, Dominic Fritz, who was found in conflict of interest prior to the law's enactment, and the Constitutional Court upheld the law's constitutionality.
