ANALIZĂ. Ultimii 10 ani au adus o scădere puternică a consumului de gaze din cauza „morţii” industriei energofage
The decade from 2016 to 2025 saw a significant shift in Romania's energy consumption patterns, with a decline in industrial energy use and a rise in residential consumption. Data from the National Institute of Statistics indicates that net electricity consumption fell from around 53-55 TWh in 2016 to 50 TWh in 2025, largely due to reduced industrial activity. Peak consumption levels also decreased, remaining 5-10% below historical highs. Natural gas consumption dropped nearly 25% to 9 billion cubic meters, primarily due to a decline in industrial demand. The residential sector increased its share of total consumption, aided by improved energy efficiency and a shift towards individual heating solutions. This transition reflects a broader trend of deindustrialization and decentralization in Romania's energy system.
