The average diesel price in the EU has reached a record high of €2.23 per liter, influenced by energy shocks related to conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. Nineteen EU countries, including Germany, France, and Italy, have set new price records. Denmark and Finland report the highest consumer prices at €2.56 per liter, followed by Germany at €2.46. The prices include taxes, which account for about 40% of the total cost. Some European governments have implemented tax reductions similar to those during the 2022 energy crisis, but current fiscal measures are significantly lower than before. The overall diesel price in the EU has increased by approximately 40% since late February, while U.S. diesel prices have surged over 70%.
