Romania ranks significantly lower than the EU average in preparing the labor market for artificial intelligence, with an index of 52.5 out of 100. The country lags behind regional peers and faces challenges in innovation and institutional adaptation. While AI adoption in Romanian firms has tripled, it remains far below the EU average. A significant portion of companies informally use AI tools, highlighting a disparity in digital readiness among businesses. The report calls for a national AI literacy program to support workforce training and address the uneven distribution of adaptation capacity.
