The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) has proposed a new procedure for determining social contributions for individuals with independent income, including foreign pensions. Starting in 2025, taxpayers will declare all income through a single declaration by May 25 of the following year. The changes, established by Government Emergency Ordinance no. 128/2024, eliminate the need for an estimated declaration. ANAF will notify individuals who fail to declare their contributions and may impose taxes based on available data. The agency will also conduct hearings for those who do not comply, allowing them to express their views. Failure to declare may result in fines ranging from 50 to 500 lei.
