Alexandru Nazare, the interim Minister of Finance, announced a significant increase in ANAF's revenue collections, totaling 267.6 billion lei in the first half of 2026, up by 22.4 billion lei from the previous year. VAT collections also rose by 25.9%, amounting to 64.8 billion lei. Nazare emphasized the importance of responsible public spending and the need for continued fiscal stability in Romania. He mentioned upcoming evaluations from rating agencies, which will assess the country's financial direction. Additionally, bonuses for ANAF employees who improve collection efficiency will continue under the new salary law.
