The Romanian government has approved an increase in fines imposed by the National Audiovisual Council, updating amounts for the first time in 17 years. The new fines will range from 22,000 to 440,000 lei for certain violations, reflecting inflation since 2009. This adjustment aims to align penalties with current economic conditions and enhance regulatory effectiveness. Specific violations include illegal broadcasting practices and unauthorized retransmission of audiovisual services. Additionally, fines for other infractions will now range from 11,000 to 200,000 lei, also adjusted for inflation.
