The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) conducted inspections from October 12-16, 2026, checking over 1,800 businesses. They issued 1,046 fines totaling over 4.6 million lei and temporarily or permanently halted the sale of non-compliant products. Inspectors found expired food items, unsanitary kitchen conditions, and discrepancies in product pricing. Eight businesses were ordered to cease operations until issues were resolved. The inspections revealed serious violations in both food and non-food sectors, including expired detergents and improperly stored food products.
