The season for homemade țuică has begun, but this year’s harvest is poor due to adverse weather. Gospodarii can legally produce up to 50 liters of pure alcohol per household annually, equating to about 125 liters at 40% alcohol concentration. Exceeding this limit can result in fines up to 100,000 lei and possible confiscation of products. Many locals emphasize that they produce țuică primarily for family use, not for sale, and express concern over the high penalties for exceeding legal limits. The distillation process will continue until late October or early November.
