The Ministry of Environment has approved the environmental agreement for the Cornetu-Avrig hydroelectric project on the Olt River, which will enhance Romania's renewable energy production. The project is expected to generate approximately 156.8 GWh annually, sufficient for over 52,000 households. The agreement outlines environmental protection measures during construction and operation. Minister Diana Buzoianu emphasized the importance of balancing energy investments with environmental regulations. The project includes completing two hydroelectric steps and ensuring the protection of existing transport infrastructure. Public consultations were held, and feedback was received from various stakeholders.
