Ambele reactoare de la Cernavodă, oprite: Bolojan cere românilor să reducă seara consumul de curent

Both reactors at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant were shut down due to drought and low water levels in the Danube. Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan urged the public and large industrial consumers to voluntarily reduce electricity consumption during peak evening hours. The plant requires significant water for cooling, and current water levels are insufficient for operation. Romania plans to increase energy production from gas, solar, and wind sources, while also importing more electricity. The situation may last one to two weeks, depending on weather conditions.
